Student Loans

In today’s increasingly hi-tech world, your level of education can determine your job options, salary, and ability to advance. Your education determines your lifestyle! Whether you are returning to school to upgrade your skills, or just graduating from high school, a student loan from Broadway Bank can help you achieve your educational goals!

Applying for student financial aid can seem complicated and intimidating. However, the process can be simplified by applying as early as possible and meeting all deadlines. Your most important resource for guidance and information will be the Student Financial Aid Advisor at the institution you are planning to attend, or your high school counselor. The types of student financial aid available vary from school to school, but the following steps are universal to most institutions:

Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA): This application is used for Federal Student Financial Aid Programs (Federal Pell Grants, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (FSEOG), Federal Stafford Loans (subsidized and unsubsidized), Federal Perkins Loans, and Federal Work-Study, among others.) Most schools require you to apply for Federal Student Aid before considering you for state or institution-based student aid programs. You will need your previous year’s income tax return information to complete this application. You can obtain an application from any high school, post secondary institution or by calling 1-800-4-FEDAID (1-800-433-3243).

Student Aid Report (SAR): Approximately four weeks after mailing your FAFSA (or two weeks if you transmit it electronically), the U.S. Department of Education will send you a Student Aid Report (SAR). The SAR contains a number called an Expected Family Contribution (EFC). Your college uses the EFC to determine the amount of your Federal Grant, Stafford Loan(s) or Work Study award, (if you are eligible). After you receive your SAR, contact the Student Financial Aid Advisor at the institution you are planning to attend.

Award Letter: Based on your SAR, the college will prepare and send you an award letter. This letter will detail all the different types of Federal, State, and institution-based student financial aid programs you are eligible for, including student loans. Upon receipt of the award letter, you may accept or refuse any or all of the aid you are eligible for. In the event you are eligible for student loans and decide to apply for them, you will be asked to choose a lender. Broadway National Bank participates in the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP) and can provide you with an application for Stafford Loans (subsidized and unsubsidized), as well as Parent Plus Loans. For a student loan information package, contact your nearest Broadway Bank branch, or call 283-6611.
